Empowering Future Leaders Through Purpose-Driven Experiences

Since 2009, EY has partnered with ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ to deliver the EY-ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Ambassadors Program—one of EY’s signature EY Ripples volunteer initiatives focused on environmental sustainability. This immersive program sends high-performing professionals from across the Americas on environmental research expeditions that support local ecosystems and communities.

The Problem

EY was seeking a way to reward its high-performing employees that would build their leadership potential and further invest them in the company’s sustainability mission.

EY sought a unique, unforgettable opportunity that would be of high value to its employees and foster a sustainable mindset. By rewarding employees with an environmentally focused opportunity, EY can engage its staff while advancing its environmental and sustainability missions.

The Solution

In 2009, ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ and EY formed a partnership to offer EY employees an engaging professional development opportunity that would immerse them in environmental science and empower them to contribute to sustainability initiatives within local communities.

Over the course of a week, EY professionals travel to rural and ecologically significant communities across the Americas to join leading scientists on ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ research expeditions. From the wetlands of Xochimilco in Mexico and the Amazon rainforest of Peru to the Serra do Itajaí National Park in Brazil and the coffee highlands of Costa Rica, participants have contributed to critical environmental science by collecting essential field data. They’ve helped monitor shark populations in Belize, supported sea turtle conservation efforts along Costa Rica’s Pacific coast, and tracked elusive forest owls in the Western United States. Whether hiking, kayaking, or collecting environmental samples, EY employees play a hands-on role in helping researchers study the effects of climate change, habitat loss, and pollution on some of the planet’s most vulnerable ecosystems..

The program reflects EY’s commitment to corporate responsibility, environmental stewardship, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. For participants, it’s a unique opportunity to develop leadership skills, collaborate across borders, and return with a deeper understanding of EY’s global impact and values.

The EY-ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Ambassador program was more than just a learning experience; it was a chance to connect with nature and passionate professionals dedicated to preserving it. I'm grateful for the knowledge gained and the friendships formed through this incredible opportunity. From identifying owl calls to supporting vital migration research, the Ambassador program allowed me to apply my skills in entirely new ways, all while making a tangible impact on conservation efforts.
